Elemental: How the Periodic Table Can Now Explain (Nearly) Everything
2019 has been designated the "International year of the periodic table," marking 150 years since the modern version was unleashed on a confused public.
In Elemental, Tim James guides the reader on a tour of this baffling infographic, explaining how we came up with it, why we need it and most importantly, why it's that ridiculous shape.
Full of startling facts about chemicals and their discoverers, covering everything from spontaneous human combustion to the sugar supplement so sweet it makes you vomit, Elemental is the ideal guide to chemistry for anyone who doesn't know about chemistry!
"A hugely entertaining tour of the periodic table"
- The Daily Mail
"You'll be missing out if you don't read it."
-How It Works magazine
"Any question you can think of is answered beautifully in Elemental."
-The Free Press Journal

Elemental (US Version)
The Americanized version comes complete with more sensible spellings, like "Americanized" with a z (which frankly makes more sense). Plus we converted the temperatures into Fahrenheit, distances into feet and inches etc. Also, it comes with a free bald Eagle.*
*not actually true.
In the US? You can buy the Americanized version from Abrams books here: Elemental US Version
The sequel to Elemental will be published in August from Little, Brown Book Group.
